WAITING LIST

A REGULARLY-UPDATED WAITING LIST WILL BE POSTED HERE AFTER ENTRIES OPEN ON 2 AUGUST 2010 IF THE NUMBER OF RECEIVED QUALIFIED ENTRIES EXCEEDS 105.

In order to maximise the number of Starters for the 2010 GNW100s, the Entry List and Waiting List will operate as follows:

  • A total of 105 Entries will be accepted as Starters on the assumption that there will be five "no shows" on the day, bringing the number of actual Starters down to 100.  Under no circumstances will additional Starters be accepted on the day of the Event, even if the number of Starters falls below 100.  Any "unofficial" runner joining the event risks being refused entry in subsequent years and being reported to the Australian Ultra Running Association.  The reason we do this is to ensure the future viability of the event by adhering to our commitments to the multiple sanctioning authorities and to match the size of the field to the number of volunteers we have so that the event quality is maintained.

  • Accepted Entrants will be able to withdraw their Entry up until Friday, 29 October 2010, and still have their Entry Fee refunded.

  • Each time an accepted Entrant withdraws prior to 29 October 2010, the next person on the Waiting List will be offered their place by e-mail and added to the list of Starters.  They then have seven days to pay the Entry Fee to confirm their Entry.  After seven days, if they have not paid, the place will be offered to the next person on the list.  No places will be offered after Saturday, 30 October 2010.

It is impossible to know how many accepted Entrants will withdraw prior to Friday, 29 October 2010.  Chances are that several will be training while injured in the hope they will recover by race date.  It therefore seems that withdrawals are most likely to occur in the week prior to 29 October 2010. In 2009, there were 24 withdrawals altogether.
